Job Opportunity: Physician Assistant (PA) Urgent Care

Join the busiest Urgent Care in the Greater Austin Region (GAR) with strong patient volume and a well-established workflow. Work alongside a tenured, highly supportive APP and physician team with low turnover and strong mentorship culture. Enjoy a high level of autonomy and independence while still having collaborative physician support available. Conveniently located on the same campus as Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Marble Falls for seamless continuity of care and ED collaboration. Flexible rotating schedule with a strong work-life balance: 12-hour shifts, 2-week rotating schedule, only 1 weekend per pay period. Premium pay available for additional shifts outside standard schedule. Opportunity to practice a broad range of urgent care medicine including acute walk-in visits, follow-up care, simple procedures (I&Ds, injections, etc.). Strong operational support including Medical Assistants, LVNs & RNs, Front Desk/PSS support, Social Work resources. Established onboarding, mentorship, and APP training programs through the Greater Austin Region APP leadership team. Opportunity to support additional Hill Country locations including Burnet Urgent Care. Outpatient-only role utilizing Epic EMR. The Physician Assistant (PA) Urgent Care is a licensed, certified healthcare provider. They render direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice. They typically care for patients in an urgent or convenient care clinic.

Essential Functions of the Role:

  • Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
  • Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribes or recommends medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments. Performs procedures following approved policies, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost. Recommends interventions to change behavior linked to health risks.
  • Formulates and implements comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments. Uses evidence-based medicine, standards of care, and guidelines. Collaborates with physicians and team members when appropriate. Evaluates patient's response to care and its effectiveness.
  • Counsels patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
  • Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice or expertise.
  • Provides consultation level services for conditions/problems related to the Provider's specialty and training.
  • Performs invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and provider's level of expertise as delegated by supervising Physician.
  • May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs of the department.

Key Success Factors:

  • Know the information and techniques to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
