The Program Director will provide academic and administrative leadership for the programs, including curriculum oversight, programevaluation andassessment, course scheduling, faculty coordination, student recruitment, and strategic program growth. The successful candidate will playa central rolein shapinginnovative graduate programsdesigned to prepare instructional design professionals for careers across higher education, corporate learning, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, and digital learning environments.TheProgram Director is expected to have an on-campus physical presence, working directly with theDirector of the School of Education andDean of the College of Professional Sciences; asa faculty member, they will teach and mentor graduate students.

Additional responsibilities include:

Teachinga courseloadup to18 credit hours (six3-credit graduate courses)peryear.

Supporting curriculum development and continuous program improvement.

Engaging in student recruitment, application review, and admissions decisions.

Advising and mentoring graduate students, including supervision of capstone projects.

Collaborating with faculty and university partners to support online learning initiatives.

Participating in departmental, college, and university meetings and serving on relevant committees.

Supporting program assessment and Ohio Department of Higher Education reporting requirements.

Building relationships with external partners and industry professionals to support experiential learning opportunities.

This is a9-month teaching position withadditionalprogram director responsibilitiesduring the summer months.Opportunities are also availablefor summer teaching.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Earned doctorate in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Learning Design, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.

Minimum of two years of college-or university-level teaching experience.

Professional experience in instructional design, digital learning, or related fields.

Experience designing and teaching online and/or hybrid courses.

Demonstrated ability to design engaging and effective online learning experiences for adult learners using evidence-based instructional strategies.

Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.

Preferred

Demonstrated experience in administrating and strategically developing online learning programs, including student recruitment, course scheduling, and program evaluationand assessment.

Expertise in one or more of the following areas relevant to the program's curriculum:

Digital Accessibility (e.g., Universal Design for Learning)

Assessment and Program Evaluation

Emerging Technologies (e.g., AR, VR, AI, gamification)

Design Thinking and Project Management

User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design

Multimedia Design, including tools such as Articulate Rise 360, H5P, and Cidilabs

Game Design, Coding, and AI-Enhanced Learning

Learning Management Systems

Quality Matters or similar frameworks/certifications for online course quality assurance

Experience in K-12 educational settings, including teaching, instructional technology leadership, curriculum integration, educational administration, or technology coordination

Ability to align the program with educational and industry needs.

Experience advising, mentoring, and providing career coaching, including portfolio development, in the field of instructional design.

Active involvement in professional organizations related to the field.

Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence.
