Job description

Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Location: Fort Wayne, IN, USA - varies
Hourly Rate: $20.00
Type: PRN
Summary: The Esports/Gaming Trailer Event Staff is a PRN (as-needed) position with a variable schedule based on the rental and event calendar. This position supports the transportation, setup, and operation of Easterseals Northern Indiana's mobile gaming trailer at private parties, public events, and community engagements. Event staff interact with guests of all ages to ensure a safe, fun, and professional experience while representing Easterseals in a positive, public-facing manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain compliance with all regulatory bodies
• Completes all required documentation related to the job in an efficient and timely manner
• Ensures all required insurance and license requirements are valid and active at all times
• Reports any issues or incidents to their direct supervisor in a timely manner
• Adheres to Easterseals Northern Indiana Human Resource policies and performs other duties assigned
• Assist the Esports Coach and Director with planning, scheduling, and equipment maintenance
• Manage client expectations, and facilitate communication
• Drive the motor vehicle and gaming trailer (65 feet long) to event locations
• Facilitating fun public and private events that can include video games, virtual reality, or other offerings with the Esports Coach
• Interact with guests and gamers throughout the event, and collect payment from the customer as needed
• Present the professional image clients expect from Easterseals Northern Indiana
• Maintaining equipment while on shift
• Maintain a general knowledge of video gaming, consoles, and audio/video equipment
• Meet deadlines, be punctual, and maintain a professional image
• This is a PRN (as-needed) position with events scheduled in advance-typically no less than two weeks prior. Team members will be required to submit their monthly availability to assist with scheduling. While availability during weekdays (Monday through Friday, including some Friday evenings) and weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) is
preferred, assignments will be based solely on prescheduled events and the individual's stated availability. Please note, this position is not considered on-call and does not require open availability seven days per week.
2. Engage in respectful communication, treats participants with dignity and honors all participant's rights, and ensures the safety and well-being of all clients
• Maintain confidentiality and support privacy at all times
• Maintain the property of the agency and of all participants
• Work closely with all transportation personnel
• Know, advocate and respect the rights of all guests and clients
• Ensures all participants are safe while utilizing the gaming trailer
• Promote an environment that is welcoming for all supported participants
• Board and disembark participants, including those using common wheelchairs or other mobility devices as accordingly to ensure the safety of the participants
• Complete daily trip inspections using the required inspection checklist to ensure the proper and safe functioning of the motor vehicle and gaming trailer
• Regularly inventory the motor vehicle and gaming trailer's equipment and supplies, report restocking needs in accordance with the established procedure in order to maintain a safe and functional vehicle and gaming trailer
• Fuels the vehicle; ensures that all vehicle and gaming trailer systems are properly working, shut down, and visually inspects the interior for any items left my participants or that are not secured
• Regularly cleans interior of motor vehicle and gaming trailer to maintain a sanitary environment and safe operation of the motor vehicle and gaming trailer
o Clean vehicle interior, including wheelchair brackets, using a vacuum or broom.
o Clean windows
o Empty trash from inside the vehicle
o Disinfect vehicle seats, arm rests, handrails, dashboard, instrument panel, etc.
o Cleanup of blood and other bodily fluids using appropriate universal precaution's procedures
o Complete all required forms, reports and documentation in a timely and thorough manner
o Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Has the ability to communicate by phone when needed

3. Positively represent Easterseals Northern Indiana
• Uphold agency values and follow agency policies and procedures
• Maintain confidentiality of records/information according to HIPAA, State, Federal Laws and guidelines
• Maximize and responsibly utilize agency and community resources
• Serves as a liaison to participants, families and community resources and members
• Makes good and timely decisions
• Will maintain a professional demeanor inside and outside of the organization when representing the agency
Qualifications:
• At least 18 years of age
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities; prefer 2 years.
• A valid driver's license, insured vehicle, and safe driving history required (CDL preferred)
• Must have a clean driving record
• Must be able to drive a motor vehicle, and have experience towing a trailer is desirable
• Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks
• Experience in customer service
• Knowledge of current video games and systems is desired
• Basic language, written and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation
• Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior and/or medical concerns
• Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration and Positive Behavioral Support Training and other trainings as deemed necessary by the agency
• Must be of unquestionable character as determined by driving records, police checks, drug screen and personal references
Working Conditions: The Incumbent performs duties according to standard division policies, procedures, goals and objectives exercising discretion and independent judgment. Incumbent effectively applies guidelines to individual cases and circumstances. Incumbent performs duties in a motor vehicle/gaming trailer with minimum supervision. Incumbent frequently works independent to safely transport the gaming trailer to public and private events. The incumbent must have the ability to follow written and verbal direction while understanding geographical locations. Incumbent may work with violent/physically aggressive participants and responds to emergency situations involving potential physical harm to self and others. Incumbent may work extended hours, evenings, and occasionally travels out-of-town as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Depending on the needs of participants, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 75 lbs., walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions. Esports Gaming Transportation Drivers must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. Esports Gaming Transportation Drivers must be able to safety maneuver large vehicles.
