Job description

By State law, all positions that work with children require all three CHILD CLEARANCES be obtained prior to the first day of work. You should allow 4-6 weeks to obtain all clearances. If you work for at least one month, we will reimburse for the cost of the clearances ($60.25) that are obtained for you to work for us. RECREATION CENTER INTERN (PART TIME)
NATURE OF WORK
This internship position provides the student with a well-rounded experience by introducing the intern to many different programming areas and duties. Interns will be exposed to program development, implementation, marketing, administrative duties, general duties of operating facilities, and maintenance. Work sites will include Recreation Office, Ice Center, Racket Center and Golf Course and Parks. This internship will provide the student with a hands-on learning experience while fulfilling the internship standards of the student's university.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Complete daily opening and closing procedures using department software.
Complete program registrations for walk-ins and full session participants.
Assist with planning and implementing weekly and monthly programs such as Adult Exercise classes, Art Factory, Sporties for Shorties, Lunch Bunch, and Soccer.
Assist with Father Son Campout and Pumpkin Patch Parade special events as assigned.
Assist with implementing basketball program to include coordination of volunteer coaches including maintaining and tracking clearances, making up teams, coaches meetings and draft, and generating weekly practice and game schedules.
Assist with set up and tear down room rentals as needed.
Assist with facility maintenance projects as needed such as Bubble Up and Pool Closure.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs all other work as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Clear understanding of recreational department activities and procedures.
Interpersonal skills
Familiarity with athletics including league scheduling
Familiarity with standard maintenance practices.
Availability to work evenings/weekends as necessary.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Related course work at an accredited college or university.
Experience with recreational facilities and programming is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand: walk, bend, stoop; use hands to handle or feel equipment and supplies. The employee will need to be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 3 hours. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing, eyesight and verbal communications to record, prepare and communicate to staff, parents, coaches and the general public.
