Structural Engineering Intern | King of Prussia, PA

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.

IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in King of Prussia, PA. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems in buildings and other structures while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants.

In this role, you'll support project documentation, coordination across disciplines, and periodic job site observations while helping the team meet project goals and client expectations within budget. You'll contribute to structural work across commercial and institutional markets, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with structural design tasks for discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards

  • Research project information and identify relevant resources

  • Support client relations, maintain project design notebooks, and document materials for permanent record files

  • Coordinate design activities and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and supplier partners

  • Document design decisions, meetings, client instructions, and project progress promptly

  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check

  • Help prepare and issue addendum information

  • Conduct periodic job site observations and perform other services required by the contract services agreement

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required

  • Strong interest in design consulting

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds

  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull

  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
