SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position requires holding weekly practices for 7-8 months during the school year. The coach must also spend professional development time learning the rules of the new game and potentially going to additional training.ย The coach must register the teams, sign up for competitions, and order game pieces. Time is also spent acquiring sponsors, ordering shirts, and preparing for competitions.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting and mentoring student team members, facilitating robot design and programming, coordinating competition participation, and fostering a positive, collaborative learning environment. Previous robotics coaching or competition experience is preferred but not required.
- Registering teams for the season and individual competitions, and ordering materials, shirts
- Ability to organize, supervise, and motivate students in a team environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
- Managing timelines and competition preparation.
- Ability to ensure student safety while using tools, equipment, and technology.
- Conducting meetings/practices (twice a week for one hour)
- Attending and supervising competitions
- 2-3 local competitions
- Potential trip to Indianapolis for State Competition

Varies- based upon student interest (The goal is to have at least 30 students)ย
TIME COMMITMENT:ย
- Varies per level of competition: Approximately 40 hours
- Competitions are typically held on the weekends and can last up to seven hours, including the state competition in Indianapolis
For the state competition, travel and registration the night before would combine for approximately 4 additional hours.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (includes equipment, hours, physical demands)
Hours: There are regular after school, evening and weekend activities hours. In season, preseason and post season activities are required and expected. ย
