Job description

Position Overview:

This part-time seasonal position will assist the Washington Capitals Communications Department. The Communications Intern will help oversee game night staff, coordinate media operations, assist with credentialing and press box management and provide direct support to the communications team to ensure a first-class game-day experience for media and hockey operations staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the execution of game day services including media credentialing, press box and media lounge setup and stats distribution.
  • Serve as a resource for visiting media and media relations personnel on game days.
  • Help supervise Game Night Staff, ensuring all responsibilities are completed efficiently and professionally.
  • Provide exceptional service and support to media members covering Capitals games
  • Assist Communications staff with additional game-day responsibilities, special projects, and departmental initiatives as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Organized, able to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Hard working, detail oriented and results driven.
  • Strong leadership skills; a great teammate who enjoys working in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-service oriented.
  • Previous public relations, communications, or journalism experience preferred.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Flexibility to work at least 90% of Capitals home games (typical game night hours: 4-10:30 p.m.).
Pay Rate: $18.40 USD/hour
