Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development of policy regarding operational, accounting, and auditing practices.
  • Ensures compliance with the IGC regulations as they pertain to span of control.
  • Continually monitors the effectiveness of the established audit functions and makes changes when necessary.
  • Manages the preparation of daily reports and month-end financial statements.
  • Manages the preparation of the balance sheet account analysis, including gaming tax liability, point liability, and allowance for doubtful accounts.
  • Responsible for the preparation and filing of the RG3 through RG9, cash flow, and owner’s equity reports to the Colorado Division of Gaming.
  • Establishes procedures to monitor and safeguard company assets.
  • Directly manages the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Collections, Revenue Audit, Purchasing, and Count Process.
  • Establishes policies, procedures, controls, and records in accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, revenue audit, and purchasing. Consistent with company policy and federal, state, and gaming regulations.
  • Prepares financial reports and statements and analyzes general ledger accounts.
  • Reviews all payroll-related tax reports for accuracy and proper clearing of the corresponding general ledger accounts.
  • Interview and evaluate company vendors. Analyze their ability to perform according to established corporate and operational standards.
  • Establishes and monitors supplier performance standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with safety standards and required safety-related certifications within areas of control as required by company insurance providers and legal entities.
  • Supervises staff under span of control and performs employee performance evaluations.
  • Performs duties in compliance with safety standards, health standards, the Colorado Limited Gaming Act, and internal policies and procedures

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have Gaming experience as a controller
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required gaming licenses and regulatory approvals from the Colorado Division of Gaming.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 3 years in a management or controller-level role.
    • Prior experience in a gaming, casino, hospitality, or other highly regulated industry strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated experience with revenue audit functions, cash handling environments, and internal control frameworks.
    • Proven experience overseeing general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue audit, and count processes. An MBA or CPA is preferred.

          CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
          Must have a valid and current State of Colorado Gaming License. Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License with a good driving record. Must be at least twenty-one years of age.

          OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:
          Demonstrated knowledge of the Great Plains operating system is strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of all operational procedures relating to the cashiers' cage, count rooms, and revenue audit functions in a casino operation.
