HEAD BOYS' VARSITY BASKETBALL COACH

KNOX COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL

The position of Head Boys' Varsity Basketball Coach at Knox

Community High School is officially open.

  • 5th Grade Math Teacher


Basketball Coach Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Basketball Knowledge - Strong understanding of basketball rules, strategies, and player development.

• Program Leadership - Build, organize, and oversee all aspects of the basketball program, including culture, expectations, and long-term development.

• Player Development - Teach fundamental and advanced skills, develop athletes physically and mentally, and create individualized improvement plans.

• Practice & Game Planning - Design structured, purposeful practices and develop game strategies that maximize team performance.

• Instruction & Teaching - Teach rules, techniques, and basketball IQ in a clear, age-appropriate, and competitive manner.

• Mentorship & Character Building - Model sportsmanship, integrity, and leadership while fostering confidence, accountability, and teamwork.

• Program Management - Manage equipment, uniforms, inventory, and program needs; maintain accurate records and communication.

• Staff Collaboration - Train, supervise, and support assistant coaches to ensure consistent instruction and program alignment.

• Communication - Maintain positive, professional communication with athletes, families, administration, and community stakeholders.

• Safety & Compliance - Ensure athlete safety, follow school policies, and maintain compliance with IHSAA rules and eligibility standards.

• Community Engagement - Represent the program positively, build community support, and promote student-athlete achievements.

• Coaching Experience - Must have high school basketball coaching experience, including a proven ability to develop athletes, lead a program, and produce competitive, measurable results at the high school level.

• Leadership Skills - Ability to motivate athletes, build relationships, and lead a program with professionalism and integrity.

• Organizational Ability - Strong planning, time-management, and attention to detail.

• Commitment to Student-Athletes - Dedication to academic success, character development, and overall well-being of athletes.

• Professional Conduct - Uphold school policies, maintain certifications, and model appropriate behavior at all times.
