What is a gain rep?

Gain Reps, short for Gain Representatives, are professionals responsible for promoting and selling products or services to potential clients, usually on behalf of a company. Their primary focus is on generating new business opportunities, maintaining client relationships, and achieving sales targets. Gain Reps often work in various industries, including retail, technology, and healthcare, using communication and persuasion skills to increase company revenue. They may also be involved in market research, customer support, and product demonstrations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a gain rep?

To thrive as a Gain Representative, you typically need strong sales skills, customer service experience, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with CRM software, point-of-sale systems, and product knowledge are often required. Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving abilities, and persistence help build relationships and close deals. These skills ensure effective client engagement, achievement of sales targets, and long-term business growth.

Regular training and peer support within the team can further boost resilience and performance.

By combining investment-grade intelligence, AI-powered workflows, and proprietary data in one unified platform, Gain enables top deal teams to move faster, reduce risk, and build conviction with confidence.

Gain is trusted across more than $1 trillion of private capital (including Blackstone, TPG, KKR, etc.), used by 100% of MBB and Big Four firms, and by 80% of the world’s top 20 M&A advisory houses (incl. Gs, JPM, BoA, etc.).

Recognized for fast innovation and impact, Gain has been named both US and EU Data Provider of the Year by PE Wire, awarded Global Financial Market Review’s Best Use of AI in Finance, and ranked in Sifted’s Top 100 Fastest-Growing Companies, the Forbes 1000, and the Deloitte Technology Fast 50. Gain operates globally with offices in New York, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Warsaw, and Bangalore.

With a highly profitable and established business in Europe, our current expansion across the US is fully funded and underway.

What will you do?
  • Spearhead Credit & PE Growth: Drive overall account growth across Private Equity and Private Credit, with a specific mandate to champion the go-to-market strategy and expansion of Gain’s credit offerings in the US.

  • Drive front-line execution: Actively engage on the front lines with both net-new prospects and existing clients, leveraging your industry background to drive platform adoption, cross‑selling, and high‑value upsells.

  • Elevate Key Account Strategy: Partner directly with our Account Executives (AEs) on strategic, complex accounts. Inject your LevFin, PE, and direct lending expertise to elevate executive-level discussions and close major deals.

  • Translate Tech to ROI: act as the ultimate translator, turning advanced product and data concepts into board-level ROI narratives that resonate with CIOs, CTOs and senior investment partners.

  • Leverage Your Network: Actively generate high-quality pipeline and leads by tapping into your own established network of private market professionals, sponsors, and lenders.

  • Be the Face of Gain: Represent the company as an industry ambassador by frequently attending, networking, and potentially speaking at relevant private equity, credit, and alternative asset conferences.

  • Shape the Future of Private Markets: Act as the bridge between the market and our product development. Use your hands‑on industry expertise to identify market gaps and collaborate with our team to build the future of private market data and SaaS solutions.

Who are you?
  • Experienced Finance Professional: You bring 5–8 years of total experience in high-performing environments.

  • Top-Tier LevFin & Buy‑Side Background: You have foundational experience in Leveraged Finance from a premier investment bank, followed by direct, hands‑on experience in Direct Lending or Private Equity.

  • Credible Communicator: You have exceptional executive presence. You speak the language of credit committees, deal teams, and investment professionals fluently, allowing you to build instant credibility with key stakeholders.

  • Tech-Forward & Data-Driven: You possess a strong affinity for data, software, and AI solutions, with a clear vision of how technology can optimize and disrupt traditional private market workflows.

  • Highly Networked: You come with an active, well-established rolodex of industry contacts across the US private markets ecosystem that you are eager to activate.

  • Entrepreneurial & Hungry: You are a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is genuinely excited about the opportunity to build, scale, and define the future of the industry alongside Gain.

What do we offer?
  • Base salary: $160,000 - $200,000 (depending on experience and qualifications) with a variable bonus component directly linked to contribution on strategic accounts

  • Equity participation through company stock options

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) plan with pension contribution

  • Hybrid work model - 3 days per week in our Manhattan office

  • 20 days of paid time off and public holidays

  • Annual learning & development budget

  • International offsites and local team events

  • A high-performance, inclusive culture with global collaboration and real ownership
