Position Summary

Sunnen Products Company is seeking a skilled Gage Assembler I to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, repairing, and calibrating precision gages and fixtures while ensuring all components meet strict quality and tolerance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble and repair precision gages and fixtures using blueprints and setup sheets. Disassemble, troubleshoot, clean, and reassemble components to specification. Operate equipment such as belt sanders, sandblasters, grinders, and hand tools. Use precision measuring instruments to verify parts meet required tolerances. Calibrate gages according to established guidelines. Perform lapping and grinding operations to achieve required flatness and tolerances. Input production data and track job status using computer systems. Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met. Assist with estimating parts and labor for custom gages. Respond to customer service inquiries related to gage repairs. Support other departments as needed (packing, small assemblies, etc.)

Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and specifications. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Problem-solving skills in standardized production environments. Basic computer skills for data entry and tracking.

Education & Experience

3-5 years of relevant manufacturing or assembly experience preferred. Basic math skills (including decimals and fractions). Familiarity with shop formulas, charts, and measuring devices.

Physical Requirements

Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. Good close-range vision for reading blueprints and precision instruments.

Work Environment

Manufacturing/shop environment. Exposure to machinery, tools, and moderate shop conditions.
