Job Title: Engineer 1

Location: Rincon, GA 31326

Duration: 12 Months

JOB SUMMARY

The Engineer 1 position requires 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree. Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems. Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications. Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages. Job responsibilities include creating a safe work environment by putting safety first, understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance, understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance, understanding design practices and work processes, using all software applications used in design, understanding industry and Southern Company design standards, supporting design standard and criteria development for the system, supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations, estimating material for projects, transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications. Skillsets and expertise required for this position include introductory engineering knowledge, basic problem-solving skills, limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor, basic discipline software knowledge, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.

1. Do you have Power Generation, heavy industrial, or related work experience?

2. Do you have experience with walking down and marking up mechanical or electrical drawings?

3. Do you have CAD experience? If so, please describe your experience.

Additional Requirements:

1. Candidate must have previous experience with walking down and marking up mechanical prints.

2. Candidate must have experience with doing CAD work for mechanical P&IDs.

3. Must be local or willing to relocate at own expense.
