Job description

Purpose of the Position: We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented D365 F&O Programmer to join our Information Systems team. This is a hands-on development role focused on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations: building X++ extensions, developing integrations, automating data movement and reporting, and translating business requirements into secure, maintainable, and well-governed solutions. You will enhance existing applications, develop new software that supports business needs, replace manual, error-prone processes with reliable automation, and help ensure the reliability and efficiency of our ERP environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Development

  • Develop, customize, and maintain Dynamics 365 F&O solutions in X++ using an extensions-first approach.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions using X++, SQL, Visual Studio, SSMS, SSRS and Power Apps.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into functional, well-documented applications.

Data Integration & Automation

  • Build and consume OData APIs to move data programmatically between D365, partner systems, and reporting, reducing reliance on manual file exports.
  • Build repeatable, monitored data pipelines to replace ad-hoc, manual data movement.
  • Schedule, orchestrate, and monitor automated jobs, with alerting for failures and data-quality issues.

Quality & Delivery

  • Perform code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and deployment support to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Develop and execute test plans, and validate solutions in both UAT and Production environments.
  • Track data lineage and build automated checks to verify accuracy after each run.
  • Conduct system testing and validation procedures.
  • Document code and development process for future references.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security requirements, and development best practices.

Environment & Support

  • Maintain DEV and UAT virtual machine environments in our Azure tenant, keeping systems current with code and refreshed with production data as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure system reliability.
  • Participate in rotating Helpdesk schedule, assisting users with computer and system issues.
  • Perform occasional off-hours system administration tasks (e.g., maintenance windows, updates).

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, ideally with exposure to ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) - extracting, mapping, and reconciling data.
  • Proficiency with version control (e.g., Git) and disciplined, documented development practices.
  • Experience testing and deploying solutions across UAT and Production environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Personable and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a relaxed, team-oriented environment. Skilled at identifying root causes of issues and implementing practical, effective solutions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PPT, Teams, Outlook).
  • X++, SQL, Visual Studio, DoCentric, Azure, Power Apps.
  • Experience with job scheduling/orchestration and monitoring/alerting (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, or similar).
  • Experience with reporting/BI or automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Power Automate, SSIS, or similar).
  • Comfortable creating dashboards for data visualization and reporting.
  • Experience working in a multi-system supply chain, inventory, or allocation environment.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
