Job Summary:

This position, reporting to the Analytics Manager, is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving analysis tools for traffic safety data that provide actionable insights that support decision-making and strategic planning. This role involves working closely with different departments of the Center for Analytics and Research in Transportation Safety (CARTS) and its stakeholders to understand analysis needs, develop reports and dashboards, and use data analysis techniques to inform stakeholder decision making.

The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: coding, data collection and analysis, data integration, reporting and dashboards, data visualization, business performance tracking, trend analysis and forecasting, and data documentation and reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

50% - Data Analysis:

Create, update, and improve complex programs and scripts relevant to multiple objectives using Python, R, or other appropriate language.

Design, build, and implement statistical and machine learning models to solve specific business problems. Visualize data using charts, graphs, and dashboards to communicate insights clearly. Use data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create interactive and dynamic reports that connect to and rely on multiple data sources.

25% - Data Extraction and Preparation:

Work with Information Technology Manager and Analytics Manager to design and build the data infrastructure necessary to achieve data driven analytic solutions. Prepare and analyze data for studies and analytical tools using appropriate methods. Extract and analyze data to support the efforts of CARTS stakeholders.

15% - Project Management:

Manage projects, graduate assistants, and student workers as assigned by Analytics Manager.

10% - Other Duties as Assigned

Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Analytics Manager.

This role will also closely manage the graduate assistants in the analytics department, at the direction of the Analytics Manager.
