Adjunct Faculty – FVTC Worksite: Appleton Main Campus, Oshkosh Riverside Campus. Hours per week: 8.75.

Job Description Summary

Adjunct instructors facilitate student learning and continuously develop instructional strategies that meet the needs of students, employers, and the college. They are dynamic partners in teaching English Language Learning (ELL) courses and support the success of students beyond the classroom.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Foster student learning by creating appropriate instructional strategies and engaging students through diverse delivery methods.
  • Integrate multiple instructional technologies to maximize student success across hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online formats.
  • Assess student learning, provide regular feedback, and use data to improve course quality.
  • Manage classroom scheduling, attendance, grading, safety, and equipment security.
  • Participate in departmental activities and stay current with institutional changes and initiatives.
  • Build relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners to promote the college and its programs.
  • Advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance teaching practices and remain informed about current occupational trends.
  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements, licensure, and accreditation standards.
  • Develop curriculum and instructional materials that reflect competency‑based, employer‑aligned, and policy‑consistent expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in an accredited program with a major in ESL, TEFL, VESL, TESL, Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or a foreign language (Master’s degree preferred).
    • OR a combination of 15 semester credits in the aforementioned areas; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Teaching via alternative methods, such as online synchronous and asynchronous instruction, is preferred.
    • Familiarity with computer applications like Collaborate, Blackboard, Microsoft Office, Teams, and OERs is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in learning management systems.
    • Strong verbal and written communication.
    • Adaptability to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances.
    • Ability to engage students and maintain high instructional quality.
  • Licensure:
    • Compliance with FVTC requirements, Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards, and other applicable licensing standards.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and agency licensure throughout employment.
  • Undergo a background check that includes criminal record history; the outcome may influence hiring decisions.
  • Prior teaching or training experience is preferred.
  • Maintain qualification for FVTC at all times during employment.
Physical Requirements
  • Extended periods of sitting while working on computer systems.
  • Occasional mobility for meetings, office tours, or events.
  • Fine motor skills for tasks like writing on a whiteboard or using instructional technology.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as typing without discomfort.

Additional Information
