OrthoIndyHospital South, located in Greenwood,Indiana, provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with four operatingrooms and a 15-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasiveprocedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip and knee jointreplacement. Other services include an urgent care, clinics,imaging and physical therapy.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Nursing Technician PPOP PACU works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), preforming a variety of tasks delegated by the RN in order to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with obtaining vitals, and other taught skills as trained by OrthoIndy.
Essential Duties:
- Obtains and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output. Discontinues IV lines and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal. Observes and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse.
- Assists in the cleaning of equipment, furniture, and surfaces using appropriate aseptic technique and returns equipment to appropriate areas as needed.
- Restocks linens and supplies on the unit. Orders linen, cafe items for patient care.
- Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Performs Urine Pregnancy Tests, and blood sugars for patients as directed by Registered Nurses.
- Provides skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Reinforces patients and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Transports patients to other units, upon dismissal, and as necessary.
- Performs Cast Cutting, Ted Hose measurement and application.
