Maiden Home is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Furniture Design Associate to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of furniture design trends and construction techniques, paired with a sharp eye for detail, craftsmanship, and the functional requirements of well-made furniture.

This role is located at our New York headquarters, located in the TriBeCa design district. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Concept Development 
    • Assisting with initial concept sketches and mood boards. 
    • Contribute ideas and explore different design directions in the early stages of a design.
    • Sketch options per design brief 
    • Creating presentation decks, working with project managers, and presenting designs to various teams
  • Research
    • Current design trends, materials, finishes, and color palettes in furniture and lighting design. 
  • Material & Finish Selection
    • Assisting in the selection of materials, finishes, fabrics, and other components for New Products. 
    • Prepare material samples, explore new material options, and support the design team in evaluating them
  • Bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to the weekly design process, offering valuable insights into both our designs and the market for the Design Team to build on.
  • Confidently and proactively communicate the ability to meet deadlines with the Design Manager.
 

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in drafting, 3D modeling, and rendering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Keyshot)
  • Ability to research, conceptualize, and develop original furniture designs.
  • Strong eye for detail, proportion, texture, and materials.
  • Clear verbal and written communication to convey design ideas to team members, clients, and manufacturers.
  • Comfortable adjusting designs or priorities in response to client feedback, production challenges, or shifting timelines
  • Client-facing communication skills are a plus
  • Strong sketching and ideation skills to communicate form, function, and concept.
