Job Summary:
The Hospitality Associate provides compassionate support to grieving families during visitations by ensuring their needs are met, warmly greeting and welcoming guests, answering questions, and providing directions and assistance as needed. This position also serves as a backup to the Front Desk, providing coverage during vacations, sick leave, and other planned or unplanned absences while maintaining a professional and welcoming experience for all visitors.
This is a part-time, as-needed position with no guaranteed or set schedule. Hours will vary based on business needs, visitation and service schedules, and Front Desk coverage requirements. Availability for evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays may be required.
Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Follows instructions from the Funeral Director on the best way to serve a family at a visitation.
  • Assists the funeral director in setting up the visitation room and ensuring coffee and water are available for the family.
  • Receives and arranges flowers in a neat and orderly fashion with family flowers closest to caskets.
  • Makes sure cards are viewable for families to see.
  • Takes photos of floral tributes/memorial gifts and the card attached to them in the manner outlined in the Floral Tributes Book instruction document. Informs families about flower procedures.
  • Stands while warmly greeting visitors, handing out service folders, and directing them to the visitation room.
  • Thanks to guests for visiting Cedar Memorial and supporting the grieving family.
  • Restocks the area in the family lounge as needed and at the end of the evening.
  • Complete the flower/gift log directing where they should be delivered.
  • Straightens visitation room and family lounge, disposing of garbage.
  • Place tribute cards and memorial donations into the family bag and place the bag in the secure location indicated by the funeral director.
  • If last to leave the building, follow security guidelines by locking the facility and setting an alarm.
  • Attends Hospitality meetings when scheduled.
  • Follows safety policies and procedures.
  • Fills in for Family Center Host/Host for receptions if needed.
  • Serving as a backup Front Desk Associate by answering phones, greeting visitors, directing inquiries, and providing coverage during vacations, sick leave, and other absences.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for families and guests.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working in customer service or hospitality is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times and 5 pounds of force frequently.
