Job description

The Funeral Director and Embalmer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of funeral planning and embalming, ensuring compassionate client consultations and seamless coordination of arrangements. Working within a small team, this role supports traditional burial and cremation services while adhering to regulatory standards. The position involves frequent local and occasional regional travel and utilizes funeral service management software alongside specialized embalming equipment.

We accept applications for paid full-time interns with current mortuary school connection and currently licensed or licensable funeral directors and embalmers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate funeral services including traditional burial and cremation
  • Perform embalming procedures following safety protocols and ethical standards
  • Consult with clients to understand their needs and provide compassionate support
  • Coordinate with third parties and internal teams to ensure smooth funeral arrangements
  • Manage necessary documentation and compliance requirements
  • Utilize funeral service management and office software for scheduling and record-keeping
  • Operate specialized embalming equipment proficiently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Entry-level experience in funeral directing and embalming
  • Knowledge of Mortuary Science principles and practices
