Job description

Overview
The Merchandising Specialist is responsible for supporting the execution of category strategy and tactics. This primarily involves partnering with category managers, cross-functional teams, and external partners to ensure timely actions surrounding the launch, merchandising, marketing, maintenance, deal management, and discontinuation of the products Sprouts carries.
Essential Functions
  • Serve as liaison with product stakeholders including brands, distributors, stores, pricing, marketing, data integrity, schematics, and merchandising
  • Contribute to item scorecarding and product evaluation for differentiation, innovation, and quality
  • Support store team members with product inquiry and ticket submission/review
  • Partner with brands to collect, review, modify, approve, and reject deal contracts in our deal management system
  • Ensure all ad items are accurate and correctly entered in retail studio, softproof proofing, and marketing materials
  • Create buildups for weekly and monthly ads to track items and promotional funding
  • Assist in coordinating new product roll-outs
  • Support Category Managers in the development of merchandising plans that drive increased share and category growth
  • Communicate key initiatives and changes to store team members via the ad directives or can stacker
  • Ad hoc projects or reports in support of the category or department

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) years of experience related to retail purchasing, marketing and/or merchandising
  • Supermarket Grocery experience required
  • Requires outstanding communication skills amongst a strong interpersonal attitude that demonstrates team relationship building, organization, problem solving, multi-tasking and prioritization
  • Requires experience in Microsoft Suite, with a high level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • High degree of creativity and ability to work independently
