The Director of Development and Marketing Communications will obtain funds and public support by promoting The Salvation Army's interests and benefits to the Fox Valley area.

Development:

  • Works to establish Fund Development Goals by studying The Salvation Army's objectives and needs and cooperates with Boards and departments accordingly.
  • Guide Fund Development efforts by formulating fund development policies, procedures, and programs, including legal arrangements to transfer funds and gifts-in-kind. Obtain fund development consultation as necessary from Divisional Headquarters.
  • Identify and steward donors utilizing the Moves Management system; engaging tools such as Salesforce, Blackbaud and Tableau for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) as required by Territorial Headquarters (THQ).
  • Solicit funds and pledges by completing grant applications, answering inquiries, mailing literature, assigning responsibility for personal solicitation to Board members, volunteers, and staff members
  • Solicit donors through various touchpoints and personal visits. Also conduct presentations to donors and corporate partners.
  • Organize special fundraising and promotional projects such as Christmas appeals, capital campaigns, and annual fund development by setting objectives, targeting supporters, developing approaches, and creating proposals for solicitation purposes.
  • Develop special fundraising event(s), set goals, and track fundraising progress.
  • Coordinate with Officers, Staff, and Advisory Board on special events, including volunteer recruitment and event planning.
  • Prepare annual Fund Development reports by collecting data, analyzing trends, and summarizing infoation on year-round events.
  • Supervise the direct mail program, coordinating with DHQ and the marketing vendor.
  • Process stock donations, bequests, and other large donations according to DHQ & THQ policy.
  • Collaborate with the Community Relations and Development Committee Chair in all committee meetings, and attend monthly Advisory Board meetings.
  • Cultivate relationships with private donors for philanthropic purposes benefiting The Salvation Army.
  • Provide key support and leadership in Capital Campaigns.

Marketing | Communications:

  • Prepare promotional literature and presentations by composing copy, designing layouts, obtaining graphic art advice, and working with printers and media services for public relations.
  • Adhere to The Salvation Army's mission statement and promote national marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and implement a yearly marketing plan for all Salvation Army events and programs.
  • Represent The Salvation Army civically through civic group membership(s).
  • Attend Divisional, Territorial, and National seminars and trainings to enhance and develop job skills.
  • Promote the mission and ministry of The Salvation Army at community events and build relationships with community partners for engagement as both volunteers and donors.

Education: Bachelor's degree required

Certifications: Valid Wisconsin Driver's license with approval to drive from the Salvation Army's insurance carrier.

Experience: Three to five years of fund-raising experience
