Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY
The BHN Behavior Analyst provides high quality services to individuals served by BHN. These services are based on techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis and are provided in home and community settings.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Provides documented observations of individual served in the home and community as relevant.
  • Conducts all facets of a Functional Behavior Assessment according to best practice guidelines (i.e., structured interviews, direct observations data recording, data review and interpretation, etc.) with referred individual, family, and collateral providers culminating in a written functional behavioral assessment.
  • Develops a specific focused behavior intervention plan (BIP) designed to diminish, improve, or establish specific identified behaviors.
  • Designs data collection tools for the purpose of behavior measurement.
  • Makes necessary revisions/adjustments/updates to the plan based on data collection efforts.
  • Provides collateral consultation including but not limited to attending IEP/ISP, ICP, and other treatment planning meetings.
  • Provides services in individuals' homes, health care clinics, schools, and other community settings as needed.
  • Models for the parent/caregiver/staff and other providers how to implement identified strategies from the BIP.
  • Works closely with other staff to ensure the BIP is implemented as developed.
  • Develops other written plans as required by funding source.
  • Completes paperwork that is clearly written and legible and addresses relevant clinical issues.
  • Completes treatment plans that are consistent with best practices

  • Writes progress notes in a manner that reflects actual progress being made towards established treatment goals.
  • Submits progress notes by 5 PM the business day after services are delivered.
  • Functional Behavioral Assessment is completed within timelines outlined by funder provided specifications or BHN best practice guidelines.
  • Completes Behavioral Intervention Plan within timelines outlined by funder provided specifications or BHN best practice guidelines.
  • Documents and bills for services in a manner that is compliant with all applicable rules/regulations as required.

What you'll need:
  • Master's Degree in a mental health field and two (2) years experience in the field of behavior analysis required for Therapeutic In Home program. May still be student within Master's Degree program for Developmental Services programs.
  • BCBA/License eligible within one year preferred.
  • Experience in applied behavioral analysis: a) conducting functional behavioral assessments (FBA) of individuals with serious emotional and behavioral disturbances that include: observing and analyzing behavior in settings where the behavior is naturally occurring; evaluating specific contributing environmental factors ; and understanding the values, skills, and resources of those who are responsible for implementing the behavior plan; AND b) selecting interventions and strategies based on the results of the FBA and designing behavior plans that include intensive behaviorally oriented interventions; AND c) evaluating progress based on both qualitative and quantitative data and making adjustments to the behavior plan as needed; AND d) working with parents/caregivers and paraprofessional staff in homes and other community-based settings to implement behavior plans using techniques grounded in principles of positive behavior support (PBS) and/or applied behavioral analysis (ABA) with an aim toward decreasing a wide range of challenging behaviors and increasing more socially acceptable behavior alternatives.
  • Ability to use basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, for documentation purposes.
  • Must have familiarity with internet, word processing and email systems.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a verified clean driving record.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle available for all working hours.
  • Must be over the age of 21.
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to treat challenging and diverse client populations.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence in dealing with clients with a variety of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of community resources, and how to help clients access them.
