Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Principal Project Manager. This is an individual contributor position and will work in Sterling, Virginia with regular reporting to the Elkton, Maryland location.
The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients. In this dedicated program role, serves as office manager and facilitator to streamline and conduct daily operations, logistics, facility maintenance, team communication via daily contact with the customer and multiple outside agencies. This position will reporting out of Elkton but the daily worksite expectation will be in Virginia including significant travel/interface with the customer.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have 9 years of a combination of experience and related education including relevant Office Management and experience. Will consider those with a bachelors degree plus at least 5 years of related experience or those with a masters degree and at least 3 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with customer representatives and a geographically diverse project team
  • Experience in optimization of office projects and workflows needed to streamline daily operations which drive customer satisfaction
  • Experience leading global initiatives and interacting with non-profit agencies
  • Relevant management experience in a dynamic or entrepreneurial team environment
  • Good organization skills and ability to work with minimal direction in a changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with internal and external organizations at all levels
  • Office inventory, procurement, and maintenance of office supplies including comprehensive record keeping and expense reporting
  • Review and communicate project status and budgets and serve as primary POC/liaison with key stakeholders (internal & external)
  • Experience overseeing inventory, procurement, and maintenance of office supplies
  • Ability to work full time onsite at a facility in Sterling, VA
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance, which US citizenship is a pre-requisite.

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
