Safety Management Group (SMG) is a nationally recognized provider of workplace environmental, health, and safety (EHS) services in the utilities, healthcare, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and construction industries. SMG is seeking a Bilingual Safety Advisor in the United States to work fully remote. This position will administer the VERO contractor safety qualification program and ensure continued success for owner clients and contractors in the VERO platform. The Qualification Advisor is a representative of VERO and the owner clients and will assist the contractors through the qualification process to ensure owner clients are informed of the qualification status and risks associated with the contractor working on their behalf.


This position requires a bilingual candidate who speaks English and Spanish fluently.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Ability to work independently on various stages of the sales process, from prospecting to presentations
  • Review contractor-written safety programs and audit against specific client requirements
  • Review contractor OSHA logs
  • Review lost time and recordable incident rates
  • Make recommendations for contractor qualification based on safety requirements outlined by the client
  • Conduct annual requalification of contractor firms
  • Keep clients properly informed of contractor qualification activities and status
  • Operate as a VERO subject matter expert and field questions from the contractors and owner
  • Communicate with contractors directly throughout the qualification application process to address any gaps in the information provided
  • Create and foster a positive user experience for qualifying contractors through clear and effective communication
  • Ensures qualification audits are completed promptly to reduce the risk of project delay
  • Serves as a liaison between the contractor and clients as necessary and escalates qualification compliance issues to the client if necessary

Requirements

  • Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently
  • Ability to work fully remote in the United States
  • A bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety Management or a safety-related field is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of construction safety and local, state, and federal regulations
  • Five years of experience in reviewing safety programs
  • Knowledge and at least five years of experience in OSHA's Recordkeeping Standard (29 CFR 1904)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands of the job may include

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Manual dexterity is needed for typing and other repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to speak in an accurate and detailed manner on the phone or in person
