Position Summary:

The Mission of Saint Constantine College is to provide classical, Orthodox, higher education to a community of students seeking virtue, wisdom, and joy. Through integration of Christian tradition, dialectical pedagogy, and the Great Texts, we welcome students into the work of the Church and the commonwealth.

Saint Constantine College seeks an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Great Texts and Philosophy to join the undergraduate faculty. This professor must be able to teach a variety of core Philosophy and Great Texts courses within the Great Texts of the Christian Tradition major and the Philosophy of Religion emphasis. Particular subdisciplines or specializations prioritized in this search include Philosophy of Religion and Logic. A second priority is a background in Great Texts / Great Books / classical liberal arts education. The successful candidate will have a full time teaching load which will include general-education-level Great Texts discussions and individual tutorials, Dual Enrollment Philosophy Courses, and upper division Philosophy courses, depending on program needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Teach a full load of 13-16 hours a week (may include some combination of Great Texts discussions, individual tutorials, upper division Philosophy courses, Saint Constantine School Dual Credit courses)
  2. Serve on College Faculty Council, identifying and assessing appropriate student learning outcomes.
  3. Serve on the Philosophy of Religion Emphasis Committee, overseeing curriculum and upper division outcomes for students in the Philosophy of Religion emphasis.
  4. Serve on the Great Text discussion and tutorial leader team, attending weekly College Discussion and Tutorial Leader meetings.
  5. Participate in The Saint Constantine School community, attending regular Saint Constantine School Colloquium and Symposium events, and weekly school service hours.
  6. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  7. Submit grades, syllabi, and required forms in a timely fashion.
  8. Act as a Christ-like example of life and scholarship in an Orthodox Christian community.
  9. Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have a PhD in Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion or a related field.
  • Successful candidates will possess the ability to teach Philosophy courses from an Orthodox Christian perspective, lead Great Texts discussions, and demonstrate enthusiasm for classical, liberal arts education.
  • The ideal candidate will be dedicated to teaching and mentoring students and will have a specialization in Philosophy. Candidates should be available to begin work in the Fall 2026 semester. Review of applications for the position will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
