Position Summary
The Engineering Technology Instructor delivers high-quality, industry-aligned training that prepares students to master foundational and advanced technical skills, meet program expectations, apply engineering principles, create construction plans, and utilize industry standards in real-world scenarios. This position delivers instruction across one or more engineering technology disciplines to prepare students for careers in engineering and construction industries, with potential focus areas including Architectural, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering Technology, as well as Land Surveying Science.The instructor develops and maintains current curriculum and hands-on lab experiences, supports program and institutional initiatives, and collaborates with industry, colleagues, and community partners to strengthen workforce alignment and student success. This role also upholds Southeast Technical College's values through professional conduct and continuous improvement while engaging in ongoing professional development to maintain technical expertise and instructional effectiveness.
Essential Functions
  • Academic Excellence & Instructional Effectiveness
    1. Deliver high-quality, industry-aligned instruction that prepares students to meet program outcomes, workforce expectations, and licensure requirements.
    2. Develop, update, and deliver curriculum and instructional materials including syllabi, labs, and hands-on activities that reflect current industry standards and support student skill development.
    3. Use effective instructional strategies and technologies to promote student engagement and achievement.
    4. Design, administer, and evaluate assessments to measure learning and technical competency, using results and student feedback to improve instruction and curriculum.
    5. Maintain accurate academic records, grading, and documentation in compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements.

    1. Contribute to program success through student recruitment, advising, retention initiatives, and outreach activities.
    2. Participate in program development, accreditation activities, advisory committees, and continuous improvement processes.

Position Qualifications
  • Education
    1. Associate's degree in an Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management or other closely related field required. Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience:
    1. Minimum of 3 years of recent, relevant industry experience in an engineering, architecture, construction or other closely related field.
    2. Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience is preferred but not required.
  • Other requirements:
    1. Computer skills: Ability to use email systems, word processing, and spreadsheet software
    2. Communication: ability to actively listen and to effectively communicate with others through written and oral communication
    3. Leadership: ability to make decisions, delegate tasks, be innovative, negotiate, problem solve, build teams through coaching and development, resolve conflicts, hold yourself and other accountable, and work under pressure.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a classroom, a lab, and an office setting, with occasional travel for site visits/field trips, professional development, and student supervision.
