Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Department: Purchasing

Reports to: VP of Branch Operations

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Management / Full-time / Salary-Exempt

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading purchasing and inventory management functions, ensuring efficient procurement of goods and services while optimizing inventory investment. This role oversees vendor relationships, contract negotiations, inventory forecasting, and purchasing processes while leading and developing the purchasing team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team
  • Set performance expectations and conduct evaluations
  • Oversee staffing, training, and development
  • Ensure compliance with company policies
  • Delegate and monitor workflow
  • Foster a collaborative team environment

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee purchasing processes and ensure best practices
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and supplier terms
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Manage forecasting, inventory levels, and replenishment
  • Oversee inventory counts and reconciliation
  • Review purchase orders for accuracy
  • Expedite orders and ensure timely delivery
  • Address defective goods and daily returns
  • Annual stock returns to the suppliers
  • Analyze purchasing data and drive improvements
  • Collaborate with leadership on cost-saving strategies

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years purchasing or supply chain experience
  • Leadership experience required
  • Manufacturing or distribution experience preferred
