The Ride Platform - Senior Brand & Marketing Designer

The Ride Platform

San Francisco, CA

Full-time

Job description

Note About How We Hire

No AI screening will be used in the hiring process for this role. Every resume and cover letter will be read. Every portfolio will be pored through. Also, please note this role will NOT be filled internally.

About The Ride Platform

The Ride Platform, Inc. is the parent company of Outdoorsy, Ride, Wheelbase, and Roamly. We are named for the single transaction where an operator meets a renter. We build end-to-end for the Operator Economy: the marketplaces to book (Outdoorsy, Ride), the enterprise SaaS to manage (Wheelbase), and the insurtech (Roamly) to protect the assets people turn into businesses. We enable millions of people to explore the world while helping independent operators build generational wealth. Our mission is to build the essential infrastructure for the mobility economy.

About the Role

Outdoorsy started from the idea that people are happier spending more time outside, and with each other. Ride, our car rental marketplace, carries that same idea into other forms of mobility. Ride is brand new, and most people have never heard of it, so building awareness will be a big and exciting part of this job.

You'll build awareness for Ride and grow demand across Outdoorsy.com, and you'll also help Roamly push its new brand campaign into organic channels. Priorities move with the business, so expect to work across Outdoorsy, Ride, and Roamly rather than staying put on one brand. Day-to-day, that means campaign creative, product marketing launches, lifecycle design, and short-form social: deciding what to make, who it's for, which channel it runs on, and what the performance data says to do next. Ride's identity is still taking shape, so there's real brand design work here too, but it's in service of the marketing, not the other way around.

We want a designer who thinks like a marketer: you start with the audience and the funnel, form a strategic point of view, and can back it up with insights. You'll report to the VP of Design and work closely with Integrated Marketing and Product Design, on a small team with real autonomy and a nimble process built on trust. We're profitable and growing internationally, so the work you do here will continue to show up in new markets.

Location: This is a full-time, in-office role in Austin, TX or San Francisco, CA

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead creative for the Ride launch: campaigns, paid and organic social, landing pages, motion
  • Help extend Roamly's brand campaign into organic marketing channels
  • Design full-funnel marketing across our marketplaces, from product launch assets to email, push, and in-app creative
  • Make short-form video and motion for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Tailor creative to each brand's audiences (guests, hosts) and use performance data to shape the next round
  • Build and maintain a marketing design system in Figma/Claude Design that works across brands
  • Build AI-assisted workflows (Figma Weave, Claude, generative pipelines) that speed up campaign variations and localization
Who You Are (Candidate Profile)Minimum Qualifications

This is a senior position, not an entry-level or early-career role. Successful candidates will demonstrate real work to back up the criteria below and share a cover letter to express their interest in the position and company.

  • 8+ years in marketing, communication, and product/brand design (we are looking for a hybrid set of skills) so that someone can express their creativity across all our marketing and product surfaces
  • You are uncompromisingly ambitious to make anything you work on world-class, and you have the creative good taste and worldview to inspire surprising and unexpected solutions
  • You come to this role with real experience in-house at a well-known consumer brand, or at a top-tier brand or advertising agency, with campaign work you can show and talk through (from the essential organic marketing to brand marketing)
  • Your experience has helped you develop a marketing mindset and passionate commercial curiosity: you think about audience insights and business priorities as much as you think about aesthetics
  • You are hands-on, from concept through final asset, and you take pride in owning your craft. This is a maker's role at an important stage of our company growth ( across both products and geographies)
  • You understand the value of a 'great idea' and of building work around a creative strategy that creates emotional resonance with our guests - our work must transcend the transactional as we invest more in establishing brand awareness.
  • By default, you are comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment, and you have the organizational and communication skills to integrate with cross-functional teams. You also have confidence to ask the tough questions, challenge the brief, and make a case for doing things differently
  • Figma is your main design tool, but you are fluent in a suite of design tools including motion and yes... you guessed right...here comes the AI requirement ;-)
  • You already use AI in your design work, and you're excited about its potential to extend your creativity, whether that's using Figma Weave, Claude Design, or creating a generative pipeline yourself to optimize your time and providing space to focus on more challenging creative tasks. We are a team driven to use technology to achieve what we consider noble goals: providing the freedom to get outdoors, to move, and to accelerate small business success, so using AI is a vital part of doing this faster, smarter.
  • None of this eclipses the need to bring strong typography and art direction skills, plus real motion design chops. You are also very alert and dialed in to creativity in all its dimensions and are continually absorbing inspiration that informs your work
  • You already live in Austin, TX, or San Francisco, CA, OR you are ready to move before your start date
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in marketplaces (from Airbnb to Etsy), travel or mobility (from Uber to Turo)
  • A real interest in two-sided marketplace dynamics (supply and demand, hosts and guests, trust) that shows up in how you think about creative
  • Experience launching a new tech-focused brand or product from zero
  • Experience designing for international audiences, or localization at scale

Benefits

What We Offer
  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary range of $125,000 - $145,000 DOE.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: 100% company-paid medical premiums for employees, 401(k) match, and Flexible PTO.
