Job description

Job Summary:

**NOTE: Starting pay is negotiable, will be based on incoming skillset and relevant work experience.**

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC Grinders.
  • Setup ID/OD Grinders.
  • Hands on problem solver.
  • Select Grind Wheels for metals.

· Perform part changeover including program input

· Effectively use tool setter and perform tool offsets

· Establish work offsets manually and utilizing probing technology

· General understanding of programs

· Recognize, clear or eliminate machine alarms

· Troubleshoot and eliminate variations that are out of process; i.e. run-out, flatness problems.

· Calibrate pre-setter arm by resetting parameters or tool setter or spindle probe

· Read machine programs and perform speeds and feeds edits under engineering guidelines.

· Perform all functions of the Operator and Setup Machinist role of designated machine(s) at full trained expertise level

· Read, understand, and reset machine program codes

· Determine and run work offsets for machine

· Read, understand and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T and complex CMM reports to make necessary work offsets

· Run Precision Grind

· Cross train other employees in machine operations

· Follow all safety policies and standards

· Fulfill the requirements of the Quality Policy and Quality Management System

· Maintain a clean and safe working environment adhering to 5S Principles

· Other duties assigned

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Basic Qualifications:

· Ability to work from blueprints, sketches and detailed instruction

· Use a variety of gauges and precision measuring instruments

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

· Be able to set-up and operate Manual and CNC Grinder machines.

· CNC programing knowledge to create basic computer programs and edit necessary changes

· Must be able to work with minimal supervision

· Be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and written work instructions

· Use of various measuring instruments, ID/OD micrometers, dial bore gage, Vernier calipers etc.

  • Good computer skills
  • Knowledge of metal cutting qualities, speeds and feeds, and machine tool operation
  • Experience in the aircraft industry or related with strict adherence to tolerances
  • 1-2 years’ work experience
  • Ability to work from blueprints, sketches and detailed instruction
  • Use a variety of gauges and precision measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of metal cutting qualities, speeds and feeds, and machine tool operation

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager. Works in conjunction with Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and Production departments to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved.
