Job description

About the Role

Texas Shapes is seeking an experienced, full-time CNC Office Programmer to join our team in Houston, TX. This is a dedicated office-based programming position, not a hybrid programmer/operator role.

Texas Shapes has been in business for 39 years specializing in precision oilfield manufacturing, utilizing CNC Lathes and Vertical 4-Axis Machining Centers. If you have strong CAM programming expertise, deep machine shop experience, and a proven ability to optimize standard G-code for complex components, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, optimize, and edit CNC programs for Lathes and 4-Axis Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) using CAM systems.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to establish proper manufacturing sequences.
  • Read, interpret, manually edit, and troubleshoot raw "G" and "M" code programs to ensure maximum efficiency and machine safety.
  • Collaborate with shop floor machinists to resolve setup issues, optimize toolpaths, and refine production processes.
  • Maintain organized programming archives, tool lists, and setup documentation for repetitive and custom oilfield parts.

Required Qualifications

  • Machining Experience: Previous hands-on machining background is required.
  • Software Expertise: Proven experience with graphics programming CAM systems.
  • Machine & Control Familiarity: Hands-on or programming experience with Mori Seiki and Doosan PUMA equipment using Fanuc controls.
  • Blueprint Reading: Strong capability to read and interpret detailed manufacturing drawings and customer prints.
  • G-Code Fluency: Proficient in reading, writing, and editing raw G-code programs directly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Compact II programming experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience in oilfield manufacturing and machining heavy alloys.

Why Join Texas Shapes?

  • Job Stability: Long-term, consistent workload within a well-established Houston machine shop.
  • Focused Role: Pure programming environment without shop floor operating responsibilities.
