Job description

CNC Programmer

Sun Manufacturing Houston, TX

Full-time

Sun Mfg. is seeking qualified full-time CNC programmer proficient in Mastercam. Programs will be created on-site from customer drawings. This individual should be a self-motivated, team player able to work as a team, make decisions and work closely with their supervisor to ensure the job gets done correctly. Sun Mfg. is a job shop in the oil & gas industry & AS9100 certified manufacturing various parts from small to large. All machines use Fanuc controls.

Job Duties:

  • Writes CNC programs or modify existing programs that help set up machines.
  • Interpret client specifications and drawing(s), to determine the most effective and efficient method to run a part.
  • Determines the most effective and efficient method to run a part.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics.
  • Work to optimize current and future CNC programs, including increasing feeds/speeds, reducing machining quality risks, and communicating necessary standard work information to machinist.
  • Report operating difficulties of equipment to supervisor.
  • Decide the different tools and operations and the sequence in which machining is carried out.
  • Maintain a good work attendance record.
  • Support the Quality Management System.
  • Participate in company safety meetings as required.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the Programming department.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Any activities requested by Supervisor within reason.

Required skills/competencies:

High School Diploma/GED

At least 3-5 years of CNC programming using MasterCam or other applicable equivalent software.

Familiar with manufacturing environment

Must have reading, writing and math skills

Must be able to follow written as well as verbal instructions

Should be able to work and interact with all levels of personnel

Competent in the CNC programming of complex machined components

Experience with the following machines is a plus: Kuraki horizontal mill, Yama Seki vertical mill, Yama Seki/Puma 800 2 axis lathe, Protec long bed lathes & Neo VTL
