Job description

Job Summary/Overview

The Cattle Ranch Hand is responsible for the day-to-day care and management of livestock and ranch operations. This role requires physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and a deep understanding of animal husbandry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for feeding, watering, and providing essential care for cattle
  • Monitor animal health, administer medications, and vaccinate as needed
  • Assist with breeding, calving, and weaning processes
  • Maintain accurate livestock records
  • Maintain and repair fences, corrals, and other ranch structures
  • Operate farm equipment, including tractors, trucks, and trailers
  • Transport hay, feed, and supplies
  • Assist with land management, including mowing, weed control, and irrigation
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on ranch equipment
  • Move and sort cattle
  • Carry out branding, castrating, and dehorning
  • Load and unload cattle for transportation
  • Implement proper animal handling techniques to ensure safety
  • Assist with other ranch tasks as assigned, such as haying, harvesting, and construction
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Technical Skills)

Education and Training:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English

Qualifications:

  • Experience in agriculture or livestock handling preferred.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of farm equipment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to ride horses (may be required for some positions).

Certifications or Licenses

A valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving history is preferred.
