Canyon Falls Farm is seeking Heavy Equipment Operators to join our Burley and Murtaugh farm teams!
Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operator III is an experienced individual contributor who safely operates a wide range of farm and heavy equipment to support crop production, irrigation, and property maintenance. This role requires strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety and quality standards across year round agricultural operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate farm and heavy equipment (e.g., tractors, planters, harvesters, sprayers, loaders, dozers, irrigation systems).
  • Perform crop production and land work, including planting, cultivating, harvesting, land preparation, and material handling.
  • Apply fertilizers and crop protection products in compliance with label instructions and safety requirements.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including installation, inspection, and cleaning.
  • Mix, load, and apply agricultural chemicals safely using appropriate equipment and methods.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Assist with seasonal equipment setup, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Maintain farm facilities, grounds, and work areas, including basic repairs (e.g., carpentry, painting).
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use, lockout/tagout, and chemical safety standards.
  • Maintain basic records for maintenance, irrigation, chemical use, and daily activities.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support operations.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience operating farm or heavy equipment in an agricultural setting.
  • Strong ability to operate and manage a variety of farm equipment, attachments, and irrigation systems.
  • Knowledge of fertilizer and pesticide use, including label interpretation and safety requirements.
  • Mechanical skills for equipment inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs.
  • Experience with GPS guidance or precision agriculture technology preferred.
  • Basic math, computer, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to safe work practices and PPE requirements.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license required. Ability to meet pesticide safety and training requirements.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Working conditions:
  • Frequent lifting up to ~50 lbs; extended walking and standing; regular use of tools and machinery; frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing; good vision and communication required; sustained physical labor.
  • Outdoor agricultural settings; exposure to heat, cold, wind, sunlight; dust, pollen, chemicals; machinery and vehicles; uneven or elevated surfaces; moderate to loud noise; variable hours including extended or seasonal shifts; PPE required.
