Nature & Purpose of Position
The SHSU Workforce Ready Kats (Community Work-study) programis seeking work-study eligible students who want to develop a deeper commitment to and understanding of the local community. Students will learn about the challenges facing our community, develop career-ready skills, and contribute to the public good.
Workforce Ready Kat placements are OFF-CAMPUS, meaning you will work at a partner organization that works to improve the quality of life for community residents. This is not an on-campus job, so you will need a reliable form of transportation.
The SHSU Workforce Ready Kats (Community Work-study) Program has placements with:
  • Walker County
  • Boys & Girls Club of Walker County
  • SAAFE House
  • Good Shepherd Mission
  • Rise Counseling & Wellness
  • Faith Lutheran School
  • and more!

Other Requirements for the Position
The placement requires you to:
  • Be a full-time, degree-seeking student and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
  • Be willing to work for the partner organization for at least one academic semester.
  • Work between 5-15 hours per week.
  • Have a reliable form of transportation to your off-campus placement site.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Be reliable, professional, and willing to learn.
