Students will learn about the challenges facing our community, develop career-ready skills, and contribute to the public good.
Workforce Ready Kat placements are
OFF-CAMPUS, meaning you will work at a partner organization that works to improve the quality of life for community residents. This is
not an on-campus job, so you will need a reliable form of transportation.
The SHSU Workforce Ready Kats (Community Work-study) Program has placements with:- Walker County
- Boys & Girls Club of Walker County
- SAAFE House
- Good Shepherd Mission
- Rise Counseling & Wellness
- Faith Lutheran School
- and more!
Other Requirements for the PositionThe placement requires you to:- Be a full-time, degree-seeking student and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
- Be willing to work for the partner organization for at least one academic semester.
- Work between 5-15 hours per week.
- Have a reliable form of transportation to your off-campus placement site.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Be reliable, professional, and willing to learn.
