Description
Job summary: The Winch Truck Driver is responsible for the safe operation of winch trucks used to transport, load, unload, and position oilfield equipment, tanks, pipe, and other materials at customer locations and job sites. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced oilfield environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate winch trucks and related equipment to transport, load, unload, and position oilfield equipment and materials.
  • Transport equipment, machinery, tanks, pipe, and other loads to and from well sites, yards, and customer locations.
  • Utilize winches, cables, chains, binders, and rigging equipment to safely secure and move loads.
  • Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operation and DOT compliance.
  • Monitor vehicle condition and perform basic maintenance checks, including fluid levels, tires, lights, brakes, and safety equipment.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured and transported in accordance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, mileage records, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, customers, and field personnel to coordinate deliveries and job-site activities.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, rigging, spotting, and general labor activities as needed.
  • Identify and report safety concerns, vehicle defects, accidents, incidents, or operational issues promptly.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and represent the company positively at all customer and job-site locations.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
- Proven experience as a truck driver or similar role
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures for commercial driving
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo
  • Required Skills/Abilities

- Strong understanding of winch truck operations and winching techniques.
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on winch truck systems and equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in oil and gas field operations.
- Ability to recognize and mitigate potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
- Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and report issues clearly.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and provide feedback on operational challenges.
- Good physical condition to handle the demands of lifting, securing, and maneuvering heavy equipment and materials.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and rough terrain.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address mechanical issues, logistical challenges, and operational obstacles.
- Ability to make quick and informed decisions in emergencies.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate load securing, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety standards.
- Careful documentation of operational and maintenance activities.
  • Preferred Skills :

- Experience driving refrigerated trailers or tankers is a plus
- Familiarity with operating roll-off trucks or forklifts is an advantage
