Full Time Weekend Rn information

What is a full time weekend RN?

Full Time Weekend RNs are registered nurses who primarily work full-time hours during weekends, usually covering shifts on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. These positions are common in hospitals and healthcare facilities that require round-the-clock patient care. Weekend RNs often receive premium pay rates or additional benefits due to the non-traditional work schedule. Their responsibilities are similar to other RNs, including assessing patients, administering medications, and coordinating care, but condensed into the weekend timeframe. This role is ideal for nurses seeking a work schedule that allows for weekdays off.

What are the typical weekend responsibilities and shift structures for a full time weekend RN?

Full Time Weekend RNs generally work extended shifts, such as 12-hour shifts on both Saturday and Sunday, and sometimes an additional shift on Friday or Monday, depending on the facility's needs. During these shifts, you'll handle patient assessments, medication administration, care planning, and respond to medical emergencies, often with a smaller weekend staff. Collaboration with physicians, ancillary staff, and on-call supervisors is essential to maintain continuity of care. While weekends can bring unique challenges like higher patient acuity or limited support services, many nurses appreciate the condensed schedule and the opportunity for increased autonomy.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time weekend RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Weekend RN, you need strong clinical skills, thorough patient assessment abilities, and a current RN license, usually supported by an accredited nursing degree. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), medication administration systems, and standard hospital equipment is crucial. Outstanding interpersonal communication, time management, and resilience help nurses excel during high-demand weekend shifts. These competencies ensure effective patient care and smooth operations during times when staffing and resources may be limited.

Job description

Job Title: Weekend Start of Care RN | $200 Per Admission
Company: Home Health Care, Inc.
Location: Twin Cities Metro Area
Schedule: Weekends Only
Compensation: $200 per Start of Care Visit + Mileage Reimbursement

Turn Your Home Health Experience Into Premium Weekend Income

You already know how to complete an admission. You understand OASIS, recognize what matters during that first assessment, and know how to establish a plan of care that sets both the patient and clinical team up for success.

Why not put that experience to work on the weekends?

Home Health Care, Inc. is looking for an experienced Home Health RN who wants to focus on Start of Care admissions while earning $200 per visit plus mileage reimbursement.

This is an opportunity for an experienced home health nurse who enjoys the clinical side of admissions, values independence, and wants to earn additional income without committing to another traditional Monday through Friday nursing position.

To Stand Out

Email Elena Ehrlich at elena.ehrlich@hhcare.net with your resume and a brief overview of your home health experience, OASIS knowledge, and Start of Care experience.

Why This Weekend Role Is Different

$200 Per Start of Care Visit: Put your specialized admission experience to work at a premium visit rate.

Mileage Reimbursement: Receive reimbursement for eligible travel between patient visits.

Weekends Only: A great opportunity to supplement your existing nursing income or build a schedule centered around weekend availability.

Admission-Focused Nursing: Spend your time completing comprehensive assessments and initiating care rather than managing a traditional weekday caseload.

Clinical Independence: Work directly with patients in their homes and rely on your assessment skills, experience, and nursing judgment.

One Patient at a Time: Step away from managing an entire floor and focus on the patient and family in front of you.

Your Assessment Sets Everything In Motion

The Start of Care nurse has an incredibly important role in home health.

You are often the first clinician entering the patient's home. You'll assess their condition, identify immediate concerns, determine what services are needed, educate the patient and family, and establish the clinical foundation for the entire episode of care.

For an experienced home health nurse, it's an opportunity to use the full range of your assessment, OASIS, care coordination, and patient education skills.

What You'll Do

  • Complete weekend Start of Care (SOC) admissions in patients' homes.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and complete OASIS documentation.
  • Develop and initiate individualized plans of care.
  • Identify clinical, medication, safety, and disease-management needs.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on medications, diagnoses, symptoms, and home care.
  • Coordinate necessary services with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Complete accurate and timely electronic documentation.

What We're Looking For

  • Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Previous home health experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of OASIS and Start of Care admissions.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and documentation skills.
  • Confidence working independently in patients' homes.
  • Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

Already Working During The Week? This Could Be Your Weekend Opportunity.

Maybe you enjoy your current position and aren't looking to leave it.

Maybe you're an experienced home health nurse who wants to increase your income without taking on another full-time commitment.

Or maybe admissions are simply the part of home health you enjoy most.

With $200 per Start of Care visit plus mileage reimbursement, this position gives experienced nurses an opportunity to turn specialized home health knowledge into meaningful weekend income while helping new patients successfully begin care.

About Home Health Care, Inc.

Applicable military codes include Army 66H, 66N, 66R; Navy 290X, 1960; Air Force 46AX, 46FX; Marines MED; and Coast Guard HS.
