Job Description
Borsheims is seeking a full-time Watchmaker to join our team. This role is essential in delivering our Signature Service to every customer.
The Watchmaker provides best-in-class support to Borsheims' customers by performing high-quality repairs, maintenance, and battery services on quartz, mechanical, and automatic watches. Successful individuals in this role combine advanced technical expertise with strong attention to detail to deliver accurate, timely repairs that meet Borsheims' quality standards. They also demonstrate a customer-first mindset by clearly communicating repair options, timelines, and costs while supporting internal teams through collaboration, training, and shared expertise.
Job Duties
  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and battery replacements on quartz, mechanical, and automatic watches
  • Examine watches to diagnose issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
  • Disassemble, repair, replace, and reassemble watch movements and components
  • Clean, polish, refinish, and size watch cases and bracelets
  • Maintain workflow to meet promised repair turnaround times
  • Communicate repair options, costs, and timelines with internal teams and customers
  • Order and manage parts, tools, and repair supplies as needed
  • Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Maintain and monitor watchmaking tools and equipment
  • Assist with training and coaching watch repair technicians
  • Follow all safety, chemical-handling, and equipment procedures

Experience and Skills
  • Certified Watchmaker preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional watch repair or watchmaking experience preferred
  • Keen hand-eye coordination and strong manual dexterity
  • Exceptional attention to detail and precision when working with small components
  • Experience repairing quartz, mechanical, and automatic watches
  • Strong knowledge of watch movements, components, and repair techniques
  • Proficiency using watchmaking tools, equipment, and repair machinery
  • Ability to manage multiple repairs while meeting promised turnaround times
  • Strong communication skills to explain repair options, timelines, and costs
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to quality craftsmanship

Essential Job Functions
  • Ability to work assigned schedule on a regular basis.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to see well enough to read small print, identify merchandise, and read a computer screen and printout with aid of minor magnification, check quality of work on small parts or entire pieces of watch items.
  • Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse with others in person, via telephone and paging system.
  • Ability to move about the store from department to department, get behind narrow counter areas, and bend down or reach up into drawers/shelves.
  • Dexterity to write in small print, hold on to and use watchmaker tools, handle small watch parts while repairing, bend over and pick up dropped materials, operate a computer keyboard, and operate office equipment.
  • Stamina to sit for over eight hours and focus on small, detailed work.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment i.e. elevated noise, steamer, minor dust, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 20 lbs.
