Position Overview:
Friends School of Baltimore seeks a Full-Time Lower School Science Teacher for the 2026–27 school year. This position includes teaching
science to students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 using the Amplify Science curriculum. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic educator
who fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of science through hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

Responsibilities:


â—Ź Teach hands-on elementary science to students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 using the Amplify Science curriculum
● Design and facilitate engineering design projects for Grades 3–5
â—Ź Foster a love of science, inquiry, and the natural world
â—Ź Collaborate with colleagues within the Lower School and across divisions
â—Ź Grade student work and provide timely, meaningful feedback
â—Ź Communicate student progress through written and oral reports to families and administrators
â—Ź Provide lesson plans to administration when requested or when absent
â—Ź Attend required field experiences, including:
â—‹ Two day-long field trips with Grade 4
â—‹ One overnight field trip (three days/two nights) with Grade 5
â—Ź Serve as a resource teacher for homeroom and special-area teachers, including planning and co-teaching special topics
â—Ź Assist with planning and facilitating activities for special Lower School days
â—Ź Attend all required meetings, including: All-School Professional Days, Science Department meetings, Lower School Faculty meetings,
Special-area teachers meetings
â—Ź Participate in arrival and dismissal duties
â—Ź Commit to ongoing professional development

Qualifications
â—Ź Bachelor's degree required; degree in science or a related field preferred
● Experience teaching hands-on science to elementary students (ages 8–11) preferred
â—Ź Willingness to understand and integrate Quaker principles and Quaker education into professional practice
