We are looking for a Master Machinist to join a dynamic team in College Park, MD. The Master Machinist is responsible for designing, fabricating, and maintaining specialized equipment and assemblies to support advanced research initiatives. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in precision machining, custom fabrication, and the development of complex laboratory systems. Key Responsibilities: * Manage and oversee machine shop resources, including tools, equipment, and materials. * Design, fabricate, and assemble custom equipment to support research and development efforts. * Build, maintain, and troubleshoot ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems. * Design and fabricate specialized laboratory equipment, including optical instruments, microelectronic manufacturing systems, and X-ray-related components. * Construct and install advanced piping systems, including those supporting toxic gas environments. * Perform maintenance, modification, and upgrades to existing equipment and assemblies. * Collaborate with scientists and engineers to conceptualize and develop custom apparatus for research applications.
