Position Division: Architecture
Description
The City of Jersey City is seeking an experienced and licensed Architect for the Division of Architecture. Under the direction of your manager, the Architect supervises and coordinates the activities of an architectural unit responsible for the planning, development, and design of drawings for new buildings and the renovation and modernization of old structures and other related duties.
Examples of Duties
• From rough sketches, verbal information, and field observations, designs and lays out plans, elevations, and sections for buildings, developing them from sketch form to working drawings.
• Develops complete drawings and details of various parts of the buildings to help the draftsman, estimators, inspectors, and contractors.
• Handles public meetings, relations and negotiations.
• Prepares drawings and specifications.
• Furnishes professional advice in connection with architectural problems or policies.
• Provides support on project designs, management of various City projects, and construction documentation to the City Council.
• Oversees and certifies construction progress to ensure contract, plans, and specific
• Prepares requests for proposals (RFPs), review and evaluate for recommendations
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Preferred Educational Background: Graduation from an accredited college or University with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
Preferred Education/Skills/Qualifications: Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit is desirable.
Required Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in designing large and varied types of buildings and preparing architectural plans, drawings, and specifications.
Required License: Appointees must possess a valid license as an Architect issued by the New Jersey State Board of Architects. Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
