Job description


Carpenter 810-Mount Sinai West
Constructs, maintains and repairs structured woodwork; builds special equipment of wood or other material; cuts and fashions parts of furniture; operates powered woodworking machinery. Performs other duties. Provides and maintains hand tools as specified by Supervisor at time of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Constructs, maintains, installs, and repairs structural woodwork, including hardware and door checks, fixed and mobile furniture, ceiling tiles, plain, plate or tempered glass, clear and frosted plastic in windows, doors and partitions, mirrors, flooring, bathroom accessories and other specialty items.
  • Builds special equipment of wood or other material, such as display racks, shelves, cases and stands. Erects scaffolding and builds forms (pouring concrete, etc.).
  • Performs activities such as measuring, sawing, squaring, fitting, sanding and nailing, to effect construction or repair of above-mentioned items. Operates power woodworking machinery such as lathes, saws, planers and sanders, to cut and fashion parts of furniture, fixtures and other wooden articles requiring closely fitted parts. Calculates measurements, angles and curves as required.
  • Ability to install wall and ceiling systems based off blueprint drawings
  • Ability to create millwork based off blueprint drawings. Proficient in millwork design standards.
  • Proficient in the customization and installation of solid-surface products. E.g., Formica, Corian, etc.
  • Cleans work areas, tools, equipment and machines. Moves, crates and uncrates equipment. Ensures that work cart is kept supplied with needed items; transports cart to workstations and keeps it within immediate reach at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • HS/GED
  • 5 years of experience
  • Trade or vocational school graduation may reduce the above requirement to 4 years
  • Certification for Powder-actuated cartridge tools
  • Ability to utilize tablet-based computer systems
