Overview

Responsibilities
  • Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures to patients while performing studies;
  • Evaluates the clinical history of a patient with the test to be performed;
  • Consults with physicians to determine appropriate ultrasonic procedures required;
  • Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the oscilloscope at all times;
  • Differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognizes electronic equipment limitations;
  • Properly labels, coats, and mounts the permanent recording of the scans for protection and filing;
  • Researches, develops, and recommends new procedures and techniques to be used;
  • Provides in-service training to students and other personnel in ultrasound;
  • Maintains scan logs and procedure manuals;
  • Maintains service records on ultrasound equipment;
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years allied health or patient care experience, two of which must have been full-time clinical ultrasound or vascular experience. Required OR
  • Completion of an allied health degree or two-year training program from an accredited institution and 1 year of full-time ultrasound experience Required OR
  • Completion of an approved ultrasound training program Required
  • RDMS or RVT/RVS or RDCS/RCS registry Required
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
