Union Gospel Mission Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Women’s LifeChange Recovery Coordinator 

REPORTS TO: Senior Recovery Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

LOCATION: Angela’s House – 18555 NW Rock Creek Blvd., Portland, OR 97229

STATUS: Full-Time Exempt; 4 x 10-hour shifts, Wednesday - Saturday 1pm - 11pm; Some work will be required on occasional evenings/weekends at special events and holidays.

WAGE: $42,000 - $47,000 annually (based on experience) plus benefits

OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Recovery Coordinator provides comprehensive care management and transitional resourcing for the Women’s LifeChange (WLC) residents, working collaboratively with a team of staff, volunteers and WLC residents in a robust and wholistic recovery program coaching them in healthy godly living; cultivating a healing recovery environment; and effectively working with all other UGM teams and community partners.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assess the legal, financial, parenting, healthcare, etc. needs of residents and develop a recovery care plan for each resident assigned to your caseload
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with the staff about resident issues and needs
  • Manage and resolve conflict with staff and/or residents
  • Meet weekly with each resident on your caseload to review recovery goals, assess progress, and hold them accountable to program responsibilities
  • Document resident recovery goals, obstacles, and progress (i.e., SOAP notes)
  • Provide grace-based accountability and cultivate a healing and trauma-informed environment
  • Coach residents in work therapy and communicate program responsibilities
  • Develop a network of community and transitional resources and refer WLC residents appropriately
  • Responsible for operating vehicles to transport residents and materials to and from specified destinations
  • Cultivate a healing environment at WLC, where grace can flow freely with a safe & clean facility
  • Maintain confidential WLC program communications and resident documentation
  • Attend WLC and All-Staff meetings and trainings
  • Conduct regular and random urinalyses, breathalyzer tests, and room checks
  • Coach and facilitate Genesis Process Relapse Prevention with residents
  • Attend weekly meetings with the team of Recovery Coordinators
  • Teach/Facilitate LifeChange program groups/classes
  • Assign resident rooms, work therapy, and laundry
  • Schedule residents’ weekly laundry times and care coordination sessions
  • Coordinate LifeChange resident transition to AfterCare with the AfterCare Director
  • Assist with any other job-related duties as assigned by the Senior Recovery Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent years of experience required. MSW degree is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Previous gospel/rescue mission experience or equivalent is preferred
  • At least one year of peer mentorship or case management experience is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal training, administrative and networking skills required
  • Ability to speak directly and lovingly confront personal issues is required
  • Excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to work in cooperation with other UGM departments and staff (team player)
  • Caring heart for homeless, addicted, and abused women and children
  • Strong love for the Lord along with strong integrity and character
  • Agreement with Union Gospel Mission’s Statement of Faith and active involvement with a local Christian church community

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • A criminal history and background check are required and must be successfully completed
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks as assigned
  • Ability to transport residents, must have a valid driver’s license and insurance
