Signage Typesetter - Production Specialist
St. Louis, Missouri | Full-time | Hourly | Non-Exempt | Onsite

Position Summary
The Signage Typesetter / Production Specialist supports our architectural signage production facility by preparing accurate production files, reviewing layouts for compliance and readability, and assisting with the physical production of signs. This role requires prior signage, graphics, or print-production experience and strong working knowledge of ADA signage standards to help ensure finished products meet customer specifications and accessibility requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and format customer files, copy, and layouts for sign production using company templates and production standards.
  • Review artwork for spelling, spacing, font consistency, dimensions, alignment, and overall readability before release to production.
  • Apply working knowledge of ADA signage requirements, including tactile text, Braille, contrast, and placement considerations, when preparing and checking interior signage packages.
  • Set up production-ready files for vinyl cutting, digital printing, routing, engraving, and other sign manufacturing processes.
  • Proof fished layouts and verify quality, completeness, and compliance before fabrication or shipment.
  • Assist with print production tasks such as laminating, trimming, masking, mounting, weeding, and finishing graphics.
  • Support workflow between design, printing, fabrication, and finishing departments to keep jobs moving on schedule.
  • Maintain organized digital files, job paperwork, and revision control for active projects.
  • Follow work orders, architectural details, sign schedules, and verbal instructions with strong attention to detail.
  • Adhere to shop safety procedures and assist with general housekeeping as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the production lead or supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in graphic design or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a sign shop, print shop, wayfinding, or graphics production environment is required.
  • Working knowledge of ADA signage standards and accessibility requirements is required.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, or similar graphics/layout software is preferred.
  • Strong spelling, proofreading, and detail orientation are essential.
  • Ability to read dimensions, sign schedules, and production information accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple active jobs and maintain file accuracy in a deadline-driven production environment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Ability to move throughout the production floor and assist with materials as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and finished products in the 25-50 lb range, with heavier items handled using team assistance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with architectural signage, wayfinding systems, and interior sign packages.
  • Familiarity with large-format printing, vinyl plotting, routing, engraving, and production file setup.
  • Experience reviewing sign packages for ADA compliance, brand standards, and fabrication readiness
