Job description


Nursery Technician II
STATUS:                     Permanent/Full Time/Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT:          Agriculture
REPORTS TO:           Agriculture Department Farm Manager
SALARY:                    $17/hr
CLOSING DATE:       Open Until Filled
POSITION OVERVIEW:       To assist the Farm Manager and Nursery Tech I in irrigation procedures, inventory of tree stock, collecting seeds and trimming to restock the nursery. Also assist in other activities assigned by the Farm Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Running irrigation systems and maintaining drip line irrigation systems.
  • Knowledge of Native tree species.
  • Propagation of Willow, Cottonwood, and Mesquite.
  • Knowledge of composting and organic fertilizer application.
  • Heavy equipment operation and maintenance. (preferred)
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Understanding of growing tree stock from trim and seed (desert growing techniques preferred).
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather, both cold and hot.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Able to meet short deadlines/Quick turnaround.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
           
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Submit to pre-employment Drug-Testing.
  • Comply with Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
  • Ability of flexible schedule (including weekends, evening, and split workdays (if applicable).
  • Valid Driver’s License (may waive for temporary position).
