About the Role

To The Rescue is seeking a Transportation Director to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our Transportation Division.

This role is responsible for fleet management, driver oversight, safety, and operational performance, ensuring individuals we serve have reliable and safe transportation. You’ll play a key leadership role in building a strong team, improving processes, and supporting organizational growth.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Leadership
  • Lead daily operations of the Transportation Division to meet organizational goals

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic growth and service delivery

  • Develop and implement processes, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and performance

  • Create and execute action plans to meet departmental and organizational objectives

Team Management & Development
  • Hire, train, coach, and evaluate transportation staff, including drivers

  • Ensure all employees complete required training throughout their role

  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and performance management

  • Partner with HR on staffing, employee relations, and retention efforts

Fleet Management & Maintenance
  • Oversee the full fleet of company vehicles, including vans and buses

  • Ensure routine maintenance, inspections, and necessary repairs are completed

  • Provide recommendations on fleet needs, replacements, and improvements

  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance as needed

Safety, Risk & Compliance
  • Lead and enforce transportation safety programs and best practices

  • Serve as a liaison for risk management, identifying and mitigating potential risks

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and billing requirements

  • Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, safety standards, and privacy regulations




What We’re Looking For
  • Strong leadership experience managing teams in transportation, logistics, or related fields

  • Ability to balance operations, compliance, and people leadership

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead, coach, and direct staff

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment




Basic Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency insurance requirements

  • Ability to operate company vehicles, including non-CDL 15-passenger vans/buses

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and ability to learn scheduling and timekeeping systems




Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in transportation, fleet management, or logistics leadership

  • Familiarity with safety programs, compliance standards, and auditing practices

  • Experience working in human services, healthcare, or a mission-driven organization




Work Environment & Schedule
  • Schedule will vary based on operational needs and may include evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities

  • This role may require hours beyond a standard 8-hour workday

  • Work includes both office-based responsibilities and hands-on involvement with fleet and staff
