Job description

BONUS ELIGIBLE: Up to $25K for experienced Nuclear Medicine Techs in this full-time position. Must have 2 years or more to qualify!!

The Advanced Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist II prepares, administers, and measures radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment. This position prepares stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculates doses to be administered by radiologists. The position subjects patients to radiation, as well as executes blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following standard laboratory techniques.

Required Education: Satisfactory completion of a formal education program accredited by A.R.R.T or a mechanism acceptable to the A.R.R.T. of Society of Nuclear Medicine
Preferred Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in Nuclear Medicine
Required Certifications and Licensures: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certificate of Nuclear Medicine Technology, or registered by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
 

Salary Range: $31.88 - $47.82/Hour

Administers radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under direction of a physician
Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies, using a camera to produce photographic or computer images
Produces a computer-generated or film image for interpretation by a physician
Calculates, measures, and records radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed, using computer and following physician's prescription
Performs quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras
Maintains and calibrates radioisotope and laboratory equipment
Disposes of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures
Processes cardiac function studies, using computer
Records and processes results of procedures
Assesses quality of images and ensures imaging outcome assessment meets departmental standard. (survey meter dose calibrator well counter uptake probe SPECT linearity center of rotation)
Explains all aspects of procedure to patients and keeps patients and families informed of waiting times or progress of procedure as necessary
Improve service and image quality by utilizing feedback from staff patients and supervisor
Prepares stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients
Secures returns supplies and maintains orderliness as well as cleanliness of the work areas and imaging rooms
Demonstrates an awareness of appropriate confidentiality rules and regulations and acts accordingly
Provides care appropriate to the age, spiritual, and cultural needs of the patient served
Other duties as assigned
