Seasonal Position: Summer Seasonal Racquet Sports Professional

Reports to: Head Professional and Director of Racquet Sports

Department: Racquet Club FLSA: Non-Exempt

The Summer Seasonal Racquet Sports Professional supports the daily operations of the club’s racquet sports program by providing high-quality instruction, facilitating clinics and events, and delivering exceptional member service. This role is ideal for a college student with a passion for racquet sports who is interested in gaining hands-on teaching and club operations experience in a private country club environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Instruction & Programming:

1. Assist with or lead private lessons, group clinics, and junior programs.

2. Work with players of all ages and skill levels in tennis and/or pickleball.

3. Support summer camps, leagues, mixers, and special events.

4. Assist with player development and on-court drills.


Member Experience:

1. Provide a welcoming, professional, and engaging experience for members and guests.

2. Promote club programs and encourage participation.

3. Maintain positive relationships with members and fellow staff.

4. Play in member’s games and events when requested by the director.


Court & Facility Operations:

1. Assist with court scheduling and basic event setup.

2. Ensure courts and teaching areas are safe, clean, and organized.

3. Help with ball machines, baskets, and equipment maintenance.

4. Assist maintenance staff on facility and court maintenance as needed.


Administrative Support:

1. Assist the Director and full-time staff with daily operations.

2. Help with program check-ins, attendance, and basic record-keeping.

3. Support retail or pro shop needs when assigned.

4. Racquet stringing.


Qualifications:

Required:

1. Currently enrolled college student (or recent graduate).

2. Strong playing background in tennis and/or pickleball and/or padel.

3. Comfortable working with children, adults, and families.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Professional appearance and positive attitude.

6. Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak hours.


Preferred:

1. Prior teaching, coaching, or camp counselor experience.

2. Basic certification or progress toward certification (PTR, RSPA, PPR, etc.).

3. CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).

4. Experience in a service-related field, preferably at exclusive private country club’s environment.


Skills and Attributes:

1. Self-motivated, self-starter, able to share ideas, and implements plans without significant oversight.

2. Proficient level of computer knowledge.

3. Enthusiastic and energetic on court.

4. Team-oriented and coachable.

5. Dependable, punctual, and organized.

6. Interest in pursuing a career in coaching, sports management with the club industry.

1. Attendance required at staff meetings and club training.
