Senior Staff Engineer, Systems Requirements
About the Role
We are seeking a Systems Requirements Engineer to join our aerospace and defense team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems engineering work products, including management plans, requirements documentation, and traceability tools. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of critical engineering deliverables that support mission-critical programs.
This position offers the opportunity to not only contribute technically but also lead by mentoring others, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring alignment across engineering, program management, supply chain, quality, and production.
What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate and manage requirements tracing in DOORS.
  • Develop, review, and deliver SDRLs, system models, requirements traceability, and engineering management plans.
  • Track and report requirements changes, ensuring the program team is kept informed.
  • Review engineering and requirements-related documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify and communicate technical or schedule issues promptly to program leadership.
  • Supervise and guide other engineers, documentation staff, and test/design personnel as required.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments (supply chain, quality, finance, production) to meet project objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and accuracy of work products.
What You Bring
  • B.S. in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, software, or systems engineering preferred).
  • Experience in systems engineering and familiarity with electromechanical systems design.
  • Strong skills in requirements management, document control, and engineering processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact across levels of the organization, customers, and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software/tools.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Work Environment
  • Mix of office, lab, and manufacturing floor settings.
  • Exposure to typical shop floor conditions: fluids, moving parts, noise, and vibration.
  • Use of standard office equipment and PPE (eye, hearing, foot protection as required).
  • Occasional travel (5–10%).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to use measuring instruments, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Visual acuity for detailed inspection and document review.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
