What is a full time student?

Full time students are individuals who are enrolled in an educational program, such as high school, college, or university, and are taking a minimum number of courses or credit hours as defined by their institution. Typically, this means enrolling in at least 12 credits per semester at the undergraduate level, though requirements may vary. Full time students often have access to certain benefits, such as eligibility for financial aid, student housing, and specific campus resources. Being a full time student usually means dedicating most of your time to classes, studying, and related academic activities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time student, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Student, strong time-management, study habits, and foundational academic skills are essential, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with digital learning platforms, research databases, and productivity software is often required. Self-motivation, adaptability, and effective communication help students engage with coursework and collaborate with peers and instructors. These skills are vital for academic success, personal development, and preparation for future professional opportunities.

What are some effective strategies for balancing coursework, extracurricular activities, and personal commitments as a full time student?

Balancing academic responsibilities with extracurriculars and personal life is a common challenge for full-time students. Effective time management is key—using planners or digital calendars can help prioritize tasks and set realistic deadlines. Setting aside dedicated study blocks, communicating proactively with professors or group members, and being mindful of overcommitting to activities are also important. Many students find that regularly reviewing and adjusting their schedules helps maintain a healthy balance and reduces stress.

Anderson University is an innovative, entrepreneurial, premier comprehensive liberal arts university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The University seeks a candidate with a strong Christian value system and lifestyle and a commitment to the integration of faith and learning.
The Associate Director of Student Care plays a key role in supporting student success at Anderson University. This position provides proactive support and case management for students who may be at risk of attrition or experiencing barriers to academic and personal success. Working closely with the Dean of Student Support and the Center for Student Success, the Associate Director will provide academic coaching, college skills training, and individualized support while connecting students with appropriate campus and community resources. The Associate Director will also help lead the Trojan Care Network, coordinating student care referrals, Stoplight Survey follow-up, student engagement data, and communication with faculty and campus partners. This position will educate faculty and staff on the Trojan Care Network, coordinate follow-up for students of concern, support students considering withdrawal, and collaborate with offices such as the Registrar, Athletics, Academic Advising, and Student Life to help students overcome barriers and continue their journey toward success at Anderson University. The Associate Director will also serve as a case manager for students requiring additional support and provide guidance to Student Life staff responding to student care concerns.

Experience with student conduct, case management, academic support, or working with at-risk and underprepared college students is preferred. Strong organizational, communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to work professionally and confidentially with students, families, faculty, and staff. A commitment to warmth, excellence, Christ-like service, and the holistic development of students is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a mature Christian faith and a commitment to Anderson University's Christ-centered mission and values.
